Desierto de Tabernas

It is considered to be the only desert in continental Europe.

The landscape offers an enormous and rich variety of environmental resources of interest, especially geological. Beneath a sub-arid Mediterranean climate, with annual precipitation of no more than 250 mm and average temperatures in excess of 17 ºC, Mediterranean type ravines have formed, the so-called “bad lands” which give shape to the grassy steppes.

Numerous spaghetti westerns were filmed on stages built in this desert. Mini Hollywood and Fort Bravo are perhaps the most famous.
